Response to Misinformation About TEFL Online Pro

We understand that choosing a TEFL course is a big decision, and that trust matters.

At TEFL Online Pro, we have proudly trained thousands of international teachers since 2019, providing fully accredited, internationally recognized TEFL/TESOL certification. We are committed to supporting our graduates in securing teaching jobs online and around the world. Unfortunately, as our success has grown, so too have efforts by a few competitors to damage our reputation with misinformation and deceptive tactics.

We feel it’s important to publicly address and clarify several false claims being circulated online:

False Reviews and Defamatory Content

We have observed ongoing attempts by two TEFL businesses—The TEFL Academy and ESLinsider (Ian Leahy)—to undermine TEFL Online Pro through false and misleading content.

1. The TEFL Academy & Affiliate Activity

An affiliate marketer linked to The TEFL Academy, Caitriona McTiernan, operates a blog named TPR Teaching. This blog has published biased, inaccurate information about TEFL Online Pro, including fake or misleading reviews that do not reflect our customers’ real experiences. We are aware of a coordinated effort to manipulate online search results by spreading this misinformation.

In one notable instance, a student named Megan Broccoli enrolled in and completed our TEFL course, received her certificate promptly, and then claimed—within an hour of receiving it—that it was rejected by a language school. This claim is implausible and appears designed to discredit our course rather than represent a genuine job-seeking experience. Megan subsequently posted this false narrative on Reddit’s r/TEFL, a forum that unfortunately lacks proper moderation of vendor-related content.

2. Ian Leahy of ESLinsider

Ian Leahy, owner of ESLinsider, has been spreading misinformation about numerous TEFL providers, including ours, for years. His campaign includes publishing false reviews, blog posts, and forum comments. Ian has been banned from platforms such as Facebook for repeated violations related to misinformation and online harassment. His accusations are baseless and have been widely discredited by the TEFL community.
